Sambla Group commits to setting science-based climate targets

Sambla Group has committed to setting company-wide science-based climate targets through the Science Based Targets initiative, SBTi. The commitment marks an important step in the Group’s work to strengthen climate accountability, increase transparency and reduce emissions over time.

As a company operating in digital financial services, Sambla Group’s core business is built on trust, data and responsible decision-making. By committing to set science-based climate targets through SBTi, the Group is taking a more structured approach to reducing its own climate impact and integrating climate considerations into how the business is measured, managed and developed over time.

Through the commitment, Sambla Group will develop emissions reduction targets aligned with climate science and submit them to SBTi Services for independent validation. At this stage, Sambla Group has committed to setting targets; the targets have not yet been validated by SBTi.

“Sambla Group’s core business is about helping people make better and more informed financial decisions. That responsibility also shapes how we approach sustainability. By committing to set science-based climate targets, we are taking a structured step towards reducing our emissions over time,” says Hans Skruvfors, CEO at Sambla Group.

Sambla Group has established a Group-wide approach to carbon accounting based on the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. The Group measures emissions across Scope 1, Scope 2 and relevant Scope 3 categories, including business travel, office energy use, IT equipment, data centres and leased vehicles.

The Group has also adopted a new Environmental Policy, setting a clearer framework for how climate considerations are integrated into business decisions across the organisation. Sambla Group’s submitted targets are now pending review by SBTi Services as part of the validation process.

“Climate work has to move from ambition to action. For us, that means using data to understand our impact, setting targets that can be independently assessed and integrating climate considerations into everyday business decisions. SBTi gives us a clear framework for that work,” says Ola Ekström, CFO at Sambla Group.

By working within the SBTi framework, Sambla Group aims to strengthen transparency, accountability and trust in how the Group manages its climate impact.

“Meaningful sustainability work is built through structure, ownership and everyday decisions. At Sambla Group, responsible choices and long term value creation are already part of how we develop our business, and our focus is to continue raising our level of ambition over time.” says Klara Lindvall, Head of Sustainability at Sambla Group.
